SpaceX Breaks Ground On Expanded Launch Site

[11-5-07 – Satellite Today]  Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX) has officially broken ground to expand Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40), which will serve as the primary launch site for SpaceX’s Falcon 9 launch vehicle , the company announced Nov. 1.
    SpaceX will perform extensive upgrades of the complex, which has been in operation at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station since 1965. The company will remove outdated infrastructure to transform the pad into a state-of-the-art facility for commercial satellite launches, supply missions to the International Space Station and eventually lofting crew into orbit.
    SpaceX operations are scheduled to begin at SLC-40 in late 2008.
