Sea Launch Platform Departs For Thuraya-3 Mission

 [11-01-07 – Satellite Today] Sea Launch’s Odyssey launch platform set sail carrying the Thuraya-3 satellite for the first mission since the company’s January launch failure, Sea Launch announced Nov. 1.
    The Thuraya-3 satellites is scheduled to be launched Nov. 13 from the Sea Launch site at 154° West at the equator. The 44-minute launch window opens at 10:57 a.m. EST.
    Thuraya-3, manufactured by Boeing, will provide mobile voice and data services from its orbital slot at 98.5° East. This will be the third Thuraya spacecraft placed into orbit by Sea Launch, following Thuraya-1 in 2000 and Thuraya-2 in 2003.
