[10-23-07 – Satellite Today] Globalstar simplex data integrator Orbit One, a Numerex company, has launched a new satellite tracking tag, Globalstar announced Oct. 23.

The SX1, designed to communicate via the Globalstar satellite Simplex data network, can be used for global supply chain asset management, fleet tracking and data monitoring applications. The tag, which measures 184x83x25 mm and weighs 13 oz., can be attached to intermodal shipping containers, trailers, buoys, barges and mobile generators with a “peel and stick” mounting option.

Earlier this year, Numerex acquired the assets of Orbit One Communications. Numerex will continue the Orbit One business through its wholly owned subsidiary, Orbit One Communications. Orbit One customers include a wide variety of government, military, and commercial clients that require the ability to manage assets globally. Data such as location coordinates, remote status, alarm and other sensor information can be sent from locations both within and beyond the reach of traditional wireless and terrestrial infrastructure.
