Gascom Signs Italian Capacity Deal

[10-12-07 – Satellite Today] Russian satellite operator   Gascom signed a capacity deal with Network Teleport Italia, its first deal with an Italian company, Gascom announced Oct. 11.

Network Teleport Italia will lease capacity on the Yamal-202 satellite at 49° East that will be used to provide services such as data and Internet transmission, satellite TV, radio and IP content distribution.

"Gascom has the competence and the infrastructure to act as a key player in the global satellite communications environment,”Pietro Guerrieri, managing director of Network Teleport Italia, said in a statement. “We feel absolutely comfortable in negotiating the deal with such a strategic partner and we believe that this contract could mark the beginning of a rock-solid collaboration.”

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
