MDA To Provide Satellite Communications Technology To Space Systems/Loral, Astrium SAS

[8-28-07 – Satellite News Today] MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) will provide advanced technology solutions for three telecommunications spacecraft being built by Space Systems/Loral and Astrium SAS, the company announced Aug. 28.

The technology, which will allow customers to transmit communications signals  to ground stations at one frequency and directly to home users in a separate frequency, will be used on the Astra 3B and Amazonas-2 spacecraft being manufactured by Astrium as well as an unnamed Space Systems/Loral spacecraft.

The contracts are worth about $18 million Canadian dollars ($17.1 million), MDA said.
