By Staff Writer | December 14, 2006

The Saskatchewan Communications Network (SCN) and OmniGlobe Networks Inc. (OGN) have formed a strategic alliance to deliver satellite-based wireless broadband Internet to rural and remote communities across Canada, the companies announced.

Under a memorandum of understanding signed Dec. 11, SCN and OGN will combine satellite and terrestrial wireless access: SCN will provide and maintain the satellite technical platform, while OGN will develop, provide, manage and market the terrestrial wireless platform.

SCN and OGN demonstrated the project earlier this year in a six-month trial involving several remote communities in northern Quebec.
