ICO Asks FCC To Modify Satellite Milestones

By Staff Writer | November 13, 2006

ICO Global Communications filed a request with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to extend four milestone dates spelled out in the company’s authorization for the construction and launch of the satellite for a hybrid mobile satellite services system, the company announced Nov. 9.

Citing manufacturing and delivery issues encountered by subcontractors for satellite manufacturer Space Systems/Loral, ICO requested that the deadline for the launch of its satellite be extended from July 1, 2007, to Nov. 30, 2007, and that operational certification of the mobile satellite services system be extended from July 17, 2007, to Dec. 31, 2007.

As part of the request to delay the launch date, ICO asked that the 2007 target dates for a complete reference performance test be pushed backed from Jan. 1 to April 30 and that the deadline for a complete thermal vacuum test be extended from March 1 to June 15.

ICO has made a copy of the FCC filing available on its website (http://www.ico.com).
