[Via Satellite 10-07-2015] Communications and Power Industries (CPI) received a contract worth more than $600,000 at list prices for its new 1.25 kW, Digital Broadcast Satellite (DBS)-band SuperLinear Traveling Wave Tube Amplifiers (TWTAs) and related system hardware. The customer, an African integrator, is using the TWTAs and equipment for part of a primary uplink system in a well-established, Direct-to-Home (DTH) network in Africa.

CPI attributed the contract win for its SuperLinear High-Power Amplifier (HPA) in part to its LifeExtender/LifePredictor technology, which can result in an increase of up to 50 percent in tube longevity. Other factors included power efficiency and CPI’s ability to manufacture both the TWT and the amplifier. CPI recently purchased ASC Signal in order to offer integrators more products.
