[Via Satellite 08-07-2015] An Advantech Wireless customer selected the company’s SapphireBlu series of Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs) for a 4K, Ultra-HD television transmission of an international football tournament in South America.

“With the new requirements of HDTV and Ultra-HD TV, broadcasters need more power per feed … fleets of DSNG vehicles from our customers have been upgraded for full HDTV transmission capability in order to transmit uninterrupted feeds of these sports tournaments to all countries around the world,” said Cristi Damian, VP of business development at Advantech Wireless.

The second generation GaN based SapphireBlu SSPA/ Solid State Power Block/Block UpConverter (SSPB) from Advantech Wireless offers very high linearity in a compact single package. The company’s systems are designed for Ultra-HD transmission broadcasting, are Digital Video Broadcast Second Generation Satellite (DVB-S2X) ready, and increase linearity without additional increases in size, weight and energy consumption.
