[Via Satellite 03-04-2015] Comtech EF Data received a $1.1 million order for satellite communications equipment and services during its third quarter of fiscal 2015. The equipment will be used by one of the largest pan-regional Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to upgrade and significantly expand its infrastructure throughout the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), according to the company.

The client selected the CDM-625A platform for the network expansion due to its spectral efficiencies and its ability to best support traffic optimization at data rates for GSM cell phone backhaul traffic. The CDM-625A leverages the VersaFEC-2 Forward Error Correction and Modulation technique along with the DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier bandwidth compression technology and 5 percent carrier roll-off to provide high Mbps/MHz ratios. Also included in the solution suite are Comtech EF Data’s high-power outdoor Solid-State Power Amplifiers (SSPA).
