[Via Satellite 01-16-2015] O3b Networks, operator of a constellation of 12 High Throughput Satellites in Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), has certified Gilat Satellite Network’s SkyEdge 2 meoEdge high-performance MEO/O3b satellite terminal. During the certification process, O3b confirmed there was zero packet loss during handovers between satellites. Gilat’s meoEdge product is the only Time Division Multiple Access (TMDA) terminal certified for O3b, and can switch to Single Channel Per Carrier (SCPC) in situ.

The terminal supports data rates of up to 48 Mbps over the O3b constellation, and is targeted for applications in cellular backhaul, oil and gas platform connectivity, and trunking. O3b CCO John Finney said Gilat also has the capability to be a full turnkey integrator for the company when necessary.
