[Via Satellite 12-26-2014] Former Weather Central Inc. President William Baker has joined Tempus Global Data, a company seeking to commercialize weather data by orbiting a constellation of six hyperspectral sounders. Under his leadership, Weather Central provided weather data solutions to an international broadcaster customer base. Baker sold the company to a division of The Weather Company called Weather Services International in 2012. After integrating the two entities and serving as chief revenue officer for the professional divisions of the company, he left in August 2014, and joined Tempus Global Data in December as executive vice president of business development.

“Bill’s business knowledge and success inside the weather industry will help ensure our data solutions get in the hands of industry and government enterprises around the globe,” said Alan Hall, chairman and CEO of Tempus Global Data

Hall added that Baker’s experience in the broadcast sector would give an edge in reaching other private markets such as aviation, transportation, agriculture and energy as well as to government agencies. Baker has 20 years of experience in the weather industry.
