Inmarsat Approves Hughes 9211-HDR Portable BGAN Terminal

[Via Satellite 12-01-2014] Hughes Network Systems’ new Hughes 9211-High Data Rate (HDR) Portable BGAN Terminal has received Inmarsat-type approval. The Hughes 9211-HDR is designed to provide high performance mobile satellite connectivity in challenging environments. The device supports an average speed of 650 kbps and can reach up to 800 kbps over Inmarsat’s BGAN HDR service.

The Hughes 9211-HDR comes with built-in RJ11, advanced automatic context activation and multi-user Wi-Fi access. It also features an active external antenna port for future optional connectivity with remote semi-fixed and mobile tracking antennas. Hughes is targeting customers in media broadcast organizations, government agencies, global relief work organizations (NGOs), mobile healthcare, first responders, and public safety with the terminal.
