MACOM, Canare Collaborate Support 4K Video Transmission over a Single Link at 12Gbps

[Via Satellite 11-21-2014] M/A-COM Technology Solutions (MACOM) and Canare Electric announced a collaborative solution that enables high-quality, long distance transmission for next-gen editing, routing and switching applications. MACOM’s 12G-SDI Chipset now supports transmission of 4k60p video using a single 12Gbps link over 80 meters of L-4.5CHD coaxial cable.
“As SDI data rates evolve to 12Gbps to support Ultra-HD video, the technical challenges of maximizing link length have greatly increased. The ability to support these extended distances will provide the end user with greater infrastructure coverage and flexibility,” said Hasnain Bajwa, senior vice president and general manager of high performance analog at MACOM.
