[Via Satellite 10-03-2014] Comtech EF Data has received $1.7 million in satellite communications equipment orders from a systems integrator in Asia. The customer ordered the equipment to support the expansion of an existing satellite-based network infrastructure based upon Comtech EF Data products. The orders specified high-speed and mid-range satellite modems, including the CDM-625A Advanced Satellite Modem along with the CDM-625, CDM-700, DMD50 and DMD20 modems.

The mid-range CDM-625A and CDM-625 modems enable the rollout of enhanced services that allows an operator to increase its subscriber base while minimizing subscriber churn. The CDM-625A leverages the multi-dimensional traffic optimization required to efficiently use space segment resources, which is key with both traditional and High Throughput Satellite (HTS) spacecraft designs. The feature set of Comtech EF Data’s high-speed satellite modem family, including the CDM-700, enables an operator to use low-cost, high-speed satellite-based trunking links to complement terrestrial connections.

To complement the modems, the customer also ordered the SFC4200A and SFC1275A Synthesized Frequency Converters along with the SEU-100 Signal Excision Unit. The converters feature redundancy, low phase noise and flexible options for monitor and control. The SEU-100 enhances the performance of geolocation systems, according to Comtech.
