[Via Satellite 08-19-2014] Singapore Technologies Electronics (ST Electronics) has opened a new satellite systems center with a 12-meter high bay clean room capable of simultaneous assembly, integration and testing of two satellites. The facility has more than 11,00 square meters of floor space and took approximately one year to construct.

ST Electronics new facility is dedicated to the manufacture of small satellites, especially for remote sensing. Significant laboratory space has also been designated for High Throughput Satellite (HTS) communications, intelligent control and management systems, and ground station components.

The satellite systems center has already seen its first use with the construction of the TeLEOS 1 flight model. TeLEOS 1 is Singapore’s first commercial Earth Observation (EO) satellite, currently slated for launch in 2015. At 400 kg, the satellite will launch into Near Equatorial Orbit (NEqO) at 550 kilometers, and use an electro-optical camera for imaging resolution down to one meter.
