[Via Satellite 04-21-2014] ViXS filed a complaint in the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) against Entropic Communications and several of the company’s customers and importers. ViXS alleges that these companies have kept unfair trade practices through the importation, sale of importation and sale after importation of set-top boxes (STBs), gateways, bridges, switches and adapters.

The complaint aims to stop the importation and sale after importation into the U.S. for a range of products, including Entropic Multimedia over Coax (MoCA) chips or Entropic System-on-Chips (SoCs). In addition to the complaint, ViXS will seek damages in federal court in a separate suit.

The ITC complaint was filed after Entropic sued ViXS in May of 2013, regarding the infringement of two Entropic patents. ViXS filed a countersuit, claiming that Entropic was guilty of breach of contract, interference with business relations and unfair competition. This countersuit was in the midst of ViXS’ Initial Public Offering (IPO).
