[Via Satellite 04-11-2014] IZT developed and sent two Satellite Channel Emulators (SCEs) to Space Systems/Loral (SSL) to be used to test overall system performance by SSL’s end customers. The SCEs will test the effects of uplink, payload and downlink on the signal before the system deployment.

IZT’s SCEs are able to test the complete bidirectional transmission path of a satellite without the need for the actual spacecraft to be available. Modification effects on the transmission, satellite or end user device are simulated before the implementation of the system in order to predict any future issues.

IZT’s SCE delivers RF interfaces to more than 300 VSAT terminals. The SCE also allows simultaneous validation of Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) systems.
