GT-SAT Deploys MaxLinear FSC SoC in New DLNB

By Rachel Scharmann | April 8, 2014

[Via Satellite 04-08-2014] GT-SAT deployed MaxLinear’s Full-Spectrum Capture (FSC) MxL862 in a new Digital Low-Noise Block (DLNB), which will assist European and Latin American satellite operators to make the move to digital channel stacking.

GT-SAT cited lower power draw and the MxL862’s level of integration as major reasons for its selection. Operators in Europe and Latin American are moving to DNLB’s to offer a multi-channel supply through a single-cable connection.

The DNLB is based on the company’s own channel stacking switch protocol, dHello. dHello supports both satellite and terrestrial frequencies, as well as C-, Ku- and Ka-band satellites and both linear and circular polarization. The converted frequency assists a range of wide-band and universal architectures for LNBs, including multiswitches.
