[Via Satellite 01-31-2014] Comtech Telecommunications announced that its subsidiary Comtech EF Data Corp. has been awarded a $3.1 million order from a government systems integrator for DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier powered DMD2050E Satellite Modems. This new equipment will support the U.S. government’s integrated satellite terminal communications.

The DMD2050E modems will use DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier bandwidth compression, a system based on Raytheon Applied Signal Technology, or “Adaptive Cancellation” technology, that allows transmit and receive carriers of a duplex link to share the same transponder space.

“The U.S. government selected our DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier bandwidth compression technology based on its unique bandwidth-savings capabilities,” commented Fred Kornberg, president and CEO of Comtech. “Utilizing our technology will enable the U.S. government to better leverage their satellite space segment resources.”
