 Archives Copyright
[Satellite Today 07-21-09] The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) awarded an $82 million contract to Raytheon to modernize the Indian air navigation system, the company announced July 20.
Raytheon will build the ground stations for India’s GPS-aided geosynchronous augmented navigation system (GAGAN), which aims to provide satellite-based navigation for civil aviation over Indian airspace and adjoining areas in South and East Asia. ISRO will provide the space segment and additional ground equipment.
Raytheon said it expects to have the GAGAN system fully functional by 2013.
