[10-01-07 - Satellite Today] Hughes Network Systems and Enea are partnering to provide infrastructure for Hughes' satellite base station subsystem, the companies announced Sept. 27.
Enea will be developing a new wireless base station to provide voice and packet data services to the subsystem.
"Middleware development is one of the most complex, costly and time-consuming aspects of deploying reliable, high-quality converged network systems and services,”Virginia Walker, senior vice president of corporate strategy and marketing at Enea, said in a statement. “Our Element middleware provides an off-the-shelf communications and network management solution that is enabling Hughes to focus its development efforts and accelerate deployment of its new satellite equipment.”
Financial details of the contract were not released.
