 Archives Copyright
[Satellite TODAY 03-16-12] Dish Network has closed its acquisitions of the reorganized DBSD North America and substantially all of the assets of TerreStar Networks, Dish Network confirmed March 13.
The U.S. pay-TV operator has invested more than $3 billion to secure the licenses for the 40 MHz of nationwide 2 GHz wireless spectrum it acquired as part of the transaction.
“We look forward to working with the [U.S. Federal Communications Commission] FCC on its forthcoming Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) and remain committed to using this spectrum to help the [Obama] administration and the FCC solve the nation's spectrum crunch,” Dish Network said in a company statement.    “In parallel, Dish will initiate efforts to enhance the performance and capabilities of handsets that utilize the terrestrial and satellite links while exploring its options for a broader market entry.”
