[Satellite Today 08-25-08] Korean Telecom Corp. has chosen Arianespace to launch Koreasat 6, the launch service provider announced Aug. 22.
Koreasat 6 will be boosted into geostationary transfer orbit by an Ariane 5 or Soyuz launcher from the Guiana Space Center in French Guiana during the second half of 2010.
Koreasat 6 will be built by Thales Alenia Space using a Star-2 platform from Orbital Sciences. The satellite will be fitted with 30 Ku-band transponders to provide telecommunications and broadcasting services from 116° East.
