[Satellite News 07-23-08] Viasat, a Modern Times Group (MTG) subsidiary, has seen a decrease in direct-to-home (DTH) subscribers in the Nordic region in the second quarter, the company announced July 22. This continues a downward trend in DTH numbers in recent quarters.
At the end of June, the company had 770,000 subscribers, with close to 690,000 of these being premium subscribers. At the end of June 2007, the operator had more than 800,000 DTH subscribers with close to 710,000 of those being premium subscribers.
At the end of June, Viasat reported 95,000 subscribers to its personal video recorder, which represented a 14 percent penetration of its premium subscriber base.
