SATELLITE 2009 brings an Oasis of Knowledge

Scott Chase

Last week a seat at the campus at Orbital Sciences Corporation was the satellite industry’s hot ticket! The company hosted its 2008 STAR Users’ conference, marking the great strides that company has made since its founding nearly three decades ago. OSC’s STAR satellite bus has been a huge success story and scores of users, operators, suppliers and current and future spacecraft purchasers kept the room bouncing with questions for hours on end.

Even more remarkable was the thirst for knowledge evident in OSC’s conference room. Invited guests from around the world quizzed experts on the costs of satellites and launch services, talked about the emergence of new applications like specialized aeronautical and maritime offerings, mobile TV via satellite, IPTV, HD and more. They wondered out loud what impact the current economic crisis might have on satellite systems and services worldwide, challenged notions of growing new markets in diverse areas of the world, asked about the staying power of government and military requirements for satellite-enabled communications. In short, they covered the waterfront for our industry.

And after three days, they left OSC headquarters wanting more! More information on products, services and markets, more knowledge and understanding of how all the pieces come together, more access to industry leaders and top executives, more networking and personal contact among peers and even competitors, more insight into the moves they need to make right now to secure the future of their companies and their own careers.

That’s just what SATELLITE 2009: Solutions Start Here delivers! As the world’s largest, most comprehensive and most successful annual gathering of the global satellite-enabled communications marketplace, SATELLITE 2009 offers a solid conference program to address every requirement of the thousands of industry professionals who travel to Washington D.C. every year. The timing is always perfect for a comprehensive look down the road ahead, the leading executives always appear and the conference is always crafted to hit all the top issues that dominate the marketplace.

Orbital Sciences Corporation was founded in 1982 with the goal of making space technology more affordable, accessible and useful to millions of people on Earth. The SATELLITE conference series has a slightly longer pedigree, but shares the same goal. You don’t need a special invitation to attend. All you need to do is make the commitment to meet the most successful and most important people guiding the future and the fortunes of the global satellite-enabled marketplace.

Those people will meet in Washington D.C. next March. Make your plans now to be among them.
