The days are getting shorter and that means at least two things – summer’s almost gone and registration for SATELLITE 2009: Solutions Start Here is up and running. Suddenly late March looks to be right around the corner!

The Walter E. Washington Convention Center once again plays host to the world’s largest and most important satellite conference and exhibition of the year. The conference kicks off on Tuesday, March 24, and runs through Friday, March 27, featuring critical leadership tracks and pre-day sessions, about 60 key panels and 300 top speakers.

SATELLITE 2009 exhibition hours begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday and conclude at 1 p.m. on Friday.

With more than 87% of the exhibit show floor sold, space is at a premium for the lucky few that will still get themselves onto the show floor. Back in the day, which for me means the early ‘80s when I was with Comsat Corp., you could survey the entire show floor from the corner coffee shop. In 2009, you might just need a golf cart to see it all!

Luckily for exhibitors, the movers, shakers and buyers of the global satellite community have been trained to seek out every corner and every booth at SATELLITE 2009. They know that innovative solutions, new products and services, and cost-effective architectures lurk around every turn of the show floor. There is no desert at SATELLITE – it’s an oasis of rows and rows of the most committed, customer-service oriented personnel on the planet, ready to take time with you to find the right mix for your communications satellite requirements.

Being thus well-positioned to fulfill your occupational and educational needs, SATELLITE 2009 also will indulge your spirit. Having co-opted the phrase “non-stop networking” from the marketplace we love, SATELLITE 2009 serves up a delightful menu of activities designed to cement relationships, build new friendships and generally encourage enjoyment of the delights of Washington in early springtime.

From the traditional welcome reception to the “must attend” SSPI Gala to the WSBR flagship lunch and silent auction to the WTA awards lunch, to the annual Via Satellite Satellite Executive of the Year award presentation luncheon to fun things outside the convention center, including all of the hospitality suites and special events that our exhibitors and guests organize to fete the world satellite marketplace, SATELLITE 2009 is a cornucopia for the senses!

And, if we’re really lucky, the cherry blossoms may be showing a bit of pink to welcome you to our nation’s capital!
