By JJ McCoy | August 7, 2007

Space-Communication Ltd. (Spacecom) will provide DRS Technologies with Ku-band capacity for use by the U.S. Department of Defense, Spacecom announced Aug. 6.

The capacity will be used by DRS Technologies’ Technical Services Business Segment as part of an offering for the U.S. military under the Defense Information Systems Network’s Satellite Transmission Services—Global (DSTS-G) contract, which is used by the military to secure capacity on commercial communications satellites.

The Defense Department uses Spacecom’s Amos satellite services to provide reliable communications for military personnel deployed throughout Europe. Under the agreement, Spacecom will provide capacity over Europe for a year, and the deal includes three one-year options.
