BAE Systems To Manufacture FPGA Semiconductors For Older Satellite Designs

By | July 18, 2007 | North America, ST Briefs

BAE Systems will produce and sell radiation-hardened, field programmable, gate array semiconductors for legacy satellite programs, the company announced July 16.

Under a license agreement with Actel Corp., BAE will manufacture FPGAs that had been discontinued in 2006. BAE was the original equipment manufacturer of the discontinued Actel RH1280 and is the only manufacturer of the RH1280B, the new part designation.

The agreement will enable producers of satellite payloads and instruments to avoid time-consuming and costly redesigns, BAE said.
