IGC Teams With Thrane & Thrane To Offer Combined Iridium/Inmarsat System

By JJ McCoy | June 20, 2007

International Communications Group (ICG) and Thrane & Thrane will expand the number of voice channels and increase the flexibility of channel types available to users by integrating ICG’s  ICS-200 dual-channel satellite communication terminal with Thrane’s Aero-HSD+ system, the companies announced June 18.

The integration permits the use of the same communications devices over both the Iridium and Inmarsat satellite networks, providing “the option of high-speed broadband communications while at the same time offering economical, voice services via the Iridium network,” said Armin Jabs, president of ICG.

The first integrated ICS-200/Aero-HSD+ systems are expected to be available in the fall.
