[Via Satellite 04-27-2016] Eutelsat and multiscreen TV solutions expert Wiztivi are unveiling Sat.tv, a smart Electronic Program Guide (EPG) for tablets and smartphones, at the TV Connect show in London. The application addresses the 66 million homes in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East equipped for Direct-to-Home (DTH) reception of Eutelsat’s Hot Bird satellites, which give access to more than 300 Free-to-Air (FTA) channels.

With Sat.tv, broadcasters can enter program schedules and information for display in real-time through the app. The EPG interface is available for viewers in five languages (English, French, Russian, Italian, Arabic) and has program details accessible in up to 40 languages.

The main features include access to detailed programs in the Hot Bird channel line-up, with options to browse by time, channel or type of content. Viewers can select preferred content in one click, and receive personalized recommendations generated based on their tastes. Viewers can also share any content of the app live on their social media profiles.

Sat.tv is an HTML5 application based on TimeLessTouch, Wiztivi’s HTML5 user interface product for mobile devices, developed with the company’s WiztiviFramework multiscreen User Interface (UI) Software Development Kit (SDK). Eutelsat and Wiztivi have been able to accelerate the development and launch of Sat.tv on both iOS and Android platforms.

Wiztivi also has a back office set up to enable channels to directly edit their program schedules. Broadcasters including CCTV, Channel One Russia Worldwide, Euronews, France 24, RT and TV5Monde have already opted for this solution.
