[Via Satellite 09-29-2015] Hispasat’s Brazilian subsidiary Hispamar Satelites has reached an agreement with Empresa Brasil de Comunicacao (EBC), a Brazilian government-owned organization, for C-band capacity. EBC plans to use the capacity for contribution services for events and news broadcasting.

EBC’s TV Brasil and NBR channels have been contributing news content throughout all of Brazil via the Amazonas 3 satellite since the beginning of September. The Pan-American coverage of this satellite increases the area for video contribution to more of Latin America and the United States, allowing NBR and TV Brasil to increase their programming reach without an increase in cost.

“Winning this bid helps consolidate our strategy to use the C band of the Amazonas fleet for video contribution and distribution services, and gives us the opportunity to provide audiovisual services to a government-owned company in Brazil,” said Sergio Chaves, business director for South America at Hispamar.
