[Via Satellite 09-10-2015] Television and Radio Broadcasting Network of Armenia (TRBNA) has partnered with Intelsat to implement a Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) network on Intelsat 33e, the second scheduled satellite in Intelsat’s next generation High Throughput Satellite (HTS) fleet, Intelsat EpicNG. The broadcaster will use a Ku-band spot beam from the satellite once it reaches its orbital location at 60 degrees east to deliver DDT services to all of Armenia through a single signal for distribution.

Intelsat 33e is scheduled to launch in the second half of 2016. Until the satellite is orbited and commercially active, TRBNA will use bridge capacity on Intelsat 904 at 60 degrees east to distribute content to its terrestrial towers for DTT services. EpicNG enables more regionalized programming, and will allow the company to accelerate the rollout and expansion of its DTT network.

“By working closely with TRBNA, we customized a solution that will allow them to quickly meet their regulatory requirements, deliver more dynamic and enhanced content, and have a network infrastructure that enables them to expand their viewership in a much more cost-efficient manner,” said Kurt Riegelman, senior vice president of global sales and marketing at Intelsat.
