[Via Satellite 09-09-2015] SES’ wholly owned subsidiary SES Platform Services has launched Liquid VOD, a new solution for Video-on-Demand (VoD) over satellite, and Lucid OVP, and Online Video Platform (OVP) for broadcasters, platform operators and Over-the-Top (OTT) players looking to launch online video offerings.

Liquid VOD enables VoD in areas lacking robust Internet connectivity without incremental distribution cost. It is designed to deliver premium content based on available encryption systems and supports major business models such as Subscription Video on Demand (SVoD) and TV on Demand (TVoD).

Lucid OVP can handle video processing, including content ingest, management, and encoding, transcoding, Digital Rights Management (DRM) integration and playout; monetization services; applications and an HTML5 realization for an IP box. The product combines linear TV streaming, catch-up TV and VoD into one online video platform. According to SES, Lucid OVP allows platform operators to create an online video and multi-screen user experience to complement their video strategy, and can also supplement Direct-to-Home (DTH) services.
