[Via Satellite 08-25-2015] Top Brazilian television network TV Globo has selected Newtec’s M6100 broadcast satellite modulator to upgrade its Satellite Newsgathering (SNG) fleet. The company is transitioning its news feeds to High Definition (HD) as part of an all-HD production strategy that includes the entire SNG fleets of the Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, and Brasilia TV Globo stations.

TV Globo is contributing news feeds in the Second Generation Digital Video Broadcasting-Satellite (DVB-S2) standard. Newtec’s Clean Channel Technology provides efficiency gains of up to 15 percent. The M6100 can be upgraded with an Extended DVB-S2 (DVB-S2X) software license as well. Newtec received Anatel certification for DVB-S2X modulation schemes up to 256 Amplitude and Phase Shift Keying (APSK) with the M6100. The Newtec M6100 also supports Digital Video Broadcast-Carrier Identification (DVB-CID) and contains the pre-defined World Broadcasting Union International Satellite Operations Working Group (WBU-ISOG) digital SNG profiles.
