United Group Extends Capacity Lease on Eutelsat 16A

[Via Satellite 02-09-2015] Television and Internet Service Provider (ISP) United Group has prolonged its agreement with Eutelsat for capacity on the Eutelsat 16A satellite. The company uses satellite to broadcast its pay-TV platform Total TV to target markets in in Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. United Group has more than 500,000 subscribers in these markets.

United Group also extended its 10-year commitment with Eutelsat in order to transition to MPEG-4 and Digital Video Broadcasting-Satellite Second Generation (DVB-S2), enabling more HD broadcasts. The company is preparing to begin the full migration of its multi-channel platform to these standards later this month, with completion anticipated by mid-2016.
