Tata Sky Launches First 4K STB in India ahead of Cricket Tournament

[Via Satellite 01-12-2015] Direct-To-Home (DTH) TV operator Tata Sky has launched its first 4K Set Top Box (STB) in India, in preparation for the upcoming cricket matches to be broadcast in Ultra-HD. Apart from relaying 4K content, the box will also showcase Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) channels.
Tata Sky 4K is a new generation STB with the capability of delivering Ultra-HD picture quality and Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 surround sound. 4K content at 8.3 Megapixels (3840×2160) has approximately four times the pixels as that of 2K (1920×1080), thus bringing far greater clarity and more vivid colors on screen for viewers.
