[Via Satellite 11-26-2014] The United States Department of Defense (DOD) has awarded a cost-plus-award-fee modification worth nearly $41 million to Lockheed Martin Space Systems for a previously awarded contract. The modification provides additional funding for logistics and sustainment support of the Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS) and Milstar Military Satellite Communications Systems.

The U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Milsatcom Contracting Division at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado is the contracting activity. The DOD has obligated fiscal 2015 operations and maintenance funds of approximately $7.5 million at the time of award. Lockheed Martin will perform work at six different Air Force bases, and is expected to complete by the end of May 2015.
