[Via Satellite 10-15-2014] The United States Air Force has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for a Cape Launch Operations and Infrastructure Support (CLOIS) contract. The purpose of the RFI is to study ways to combine the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS) launch operations support contract and infrastructure operations and maintenance services contract into one. Currently Space Coast Launch Services holds a 10-year cost-plus award fee worth more than $384 million for launch operations and support, and InDyne a seven-year cost plus incentive fee for infrastructure operations and maintenance services worth more than $213 million.

The Air Force has not decided on an acquisition strategy yet, but is looking to see if the requirement can be a small business set-aside. The winner would support the 45th Space Wing with mission requirements for space vehicle launches and sustaining range infrastructure. The contracts for both previous winners conclude in September 2015. The Air Force intends to start with a new provider on Oct. 1, 2015, preceded by a 60 to 90 day transition period.
