[Via Satellite 10-06-2014] Following meetings with the Ministry of Communications of Myanmar, GS Group has announced intentions of providing satellite-broadcasting services with a local partner. GS Group participated in the Inter-governmental Russian-Myanmar Commission’s first session in August, where representatives presented on how to facilitate international digital TV broadcasting projects. According to the company, the Myanmar government took strong interest in having satellite broadcasting in the country.

“We are ready to launch the broadcasting project in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar within a short time, which will be the first publicly available satellite TV in the country,” said Denis Budilov, deputy director of foreign broadcasting projects for GS Group.

GS Group cited Myanmar as a high-opportunity market because of a high number of television owners with limited Pay-TV options. The company submitted cooperation prospects to create a mass satellite Pay-TV platform to tap this largely unreached audience.
