Newtec Adds DVB-S2X to All Products

[Via Satellite 09-11-2014] Newtec has created a full portfolio of Digital Video Broadcasting–Satellite Second Generation X (DVB-S2X) based modulators, modems, demodulators, hubs and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) boards. Through a software upgrade, existing products can now be DVB-S2X enabled.

According to Newtec, professional applications can see spectral efficiency gains of up to 50 percent using DVB-S2X. The standard can be used to deliver 4K broadcasts with High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) at a data rate of 100 Mbps. Newtec said DVB-S2X also provides more roll off factor choices, and can channel bond up to three satellite carriers. This, in turn, supports higher aggregate data rates as well as additional statistical multiplexing gain for 4K and other services.
