2020 Company Receives $97.2 Million NOAA Satellite Management Contract

      [Via Satellite 08-01-2014] The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has awarded Acentia-owned 2020 Company a $97.2 million contract for Satellite Mission Operations and Maintenance Support (SMOMS). The five-year contract tasks 2020 Company with program management, systems engineering, and operations and maintenance services for NOAA’s Office of Satellite and Product Operations (OSPO).

      OSPO produces more than 39,000 imagery and data products using polar and geostationary satellite images. These products are often used for time-sensitive projects. OSPO also monitors and controls the operation of satellites and central ground facilities, and is responsible for integrating data from domestic and international sources.

      Through the new contract, 2020 Company will conduct primary operations at NOAA’s Satellite Operations Facility (NSOF) in Suitland, Md., and the Center for Weather and Climate Prediction (NCWCP) in College Park, Md.
