[Via Satellite 07-24-2014] SES, in partnership with Computer Warehouse Group (CWG), is launching the first Free-to-Air (FTA) digital TV platform in Nigeria. The Direct-to-Home (DTH) service will use SES’ Astra 2F satellite located at 28.2 degrees East to broadcast channels throughout West Africa.

CWG is handling the teleport services for the new platform, which is scheduled to begin service in September 2014. SES is providing the space segment along with select ground services.

Once complete, the platform will provide a means for local, national and international broadcasters to bring digital TV services to West Africa. SES currently transmits 28 FTA channels from the 28.2 degrees East neighborhood.
