Videocon d2h Selects Broadcom to Boost HD Services

[Via Satellite 07-21-2014] Indian Direct-to-Home satellite service provider Videocon d2h has chosen Broadcom’s integrated satellite Set-Top Box (STB) System-on-a-Chip (SoC) device to increase its High Definition (HD) television services. Videocon d2h is installing the Broadcom BCM7358 HD satellite STB SoCs in the company’s universal serial bus (USB) digital video recorder (DVR) for recording content at 1080p resolution.

Broadcom’s BCM7358 single-channel 1080p HD advanced video coding (AVC) satellite receiver chip has 16-bit double data rate type three (DDR3) support and a more than 750 Dhrystone Million Instructions Per Second (DMIPS) application Central Processing Unit (CPU). Videocon d2h provides 500 channels and services, along with 27 Asli HD channels and services. The company also recently previewed Ultra HD DTH services, and has plans to begin offering Ultra HD services in the next six months.
