[Via Satellite 06-20-2014] Mobile Viewpoint introduced a new software-only solution for Apple laptops and desktop computers to its family of encoders. The new application allows Mobile Viewpoint’s bonding technology to be used on any computer. Mobile Viewpoint can use all available network connections on the computer for bonding, and live video is handled by BlackMagic Design Thunderbolt capture devices.

“Many of our customers use portable but low bandwidth [Broadband Global Area Network] (BGAN) and Ka-sat satellite terminals to establish Internet connections and do live transmissions from remote locations. Our patented encoding and bonding technology allows them to improve these connections by using the BGAN Internet connection together with local Wi-Fi and 3G/4G connections on the same laptop used for editing, research and preparing stories,” said Michel Bais, CEO of Mobile Viewpoint. “Even in these harsh circumstances, this brings better video quality and improved productivity while using off-the-shelf hardware.”

This process can be monitored from Mobile Viewpoint’s Wireless Multiplex Terminal (WMT) VideoManager and routed to one or more High Definition (HD) Serial Digital Interface (SDI) Playout devices.
