[Via Satellite 05-22-2014] The United States Navy has placed an initial order for Harris Corporation’s Falcon 3 Multi-channel Manpack tactical radio. Harris plans to begin deliveries of the radios this fall to the Naval Special Warfare Command. The radio does not need hardware changes to operate over the new Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) military communications satellites.

“It is a modular, software-defined radio that recognizes the battlefield is never static,” said George Helm, president, Department of Defense business at Harris RF Communications. “With its two channels and expansion slot, it allows users to deploy the capabilities they need to be successful.”

Falcon 3 radios support multi-channel cross-banding and host all required U.S. government wideband and narrowband waveforms.
