ATIS Unveils IP Content Security Specification

ATIS has developed a downloadable multimedia security solution specification that aims to allow network operators to facilitate secure delivery of copyrighted video and other material over IP-based networks.

The specification was completed by ATIS’ IPTV Downloadable Security Incubator (IDSI) and includes a secure mechanism for downloading, launching and operating content security clients. The solution also aims to accelerate the deployment of IP networks by allowing operators to download security clients to a wide range of consumer and network-provided devices, while protecting copyright holders. ATIS said the target applications for this solution include secure delivery of IP-based multimedia content to set-top boxes, home gateways and computing and mobile devices.

Orbit Sends OrBand Maritime VSAT System to Market

Orbit Communication Systems, a mission-critical connectivity solutions provider, has unveiled its OrBand VSAT system for maritime markets.

The AL-7107 OrBand solution supports extended C-band and Ku-band frequencies, as well as RF feeds. The unit was designed with electrically switchable linear and circular polarizations to deliver RF performance equivalent to industry-standard systems in a much smaller footprint. The manufacturer said the unit’s smaller size requires substantially less deck space and is 30 percent lighter than similar solutions.

Orbit said the AL-7107 OrBand solution is the first of an extended family of products it plans to rollout in the near future.
