      Iridium, Tesacom Expand South American Market

      Iridium Satellite has formed a partnership with Tesacom to help grow the South American market, Iridium announced.
          Tesacom, a South American channel partner for Iridium service provider Stratos Global Corp., provides integrated communication solutions to South American markets such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.
          Tesacom offers satellite voice and data transmission, text messaging, localization and monitoring, mail and file transfer, network integration, software services, professional, consulting and field support services.

      Measat To Provide Ku-Band Services To Antrix

      Measat Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd. and Antrix Corp. Ltd. signed an agreement for the lease of Ku-band capacity on the Measat-3 satellite, Measat announced.
          Under the agreement, Antrix, the commercial arm of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), will lease eight Ku-band transponders with an option to lease more capacity. The transponders will be used to support the launch and development of a new direct-to-home platform in India.

      MSV To Operate Two GSMART Groups

      Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV) will operate two Gulf States Mutual Aid Radio Talkgroups (GSMART), the company announced.
          The groups, which will enable communications between emergency responders and public safety officials throughout the Gulf States region, will operate on MSV’s satellite network and be managed by the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.

      Tandberg Helps NBC Go HD

      Tandberg Television is providing a combination of compression products and managed services to NBC Universal for the launch of new high definition (HD) channels, Tandberg announced.
          Tandberg is supplying its DVB-S2 8PSK modulators to distribute programming to service providers. The modulation standard is designed to increase the throughput of a satellite transponder or increase downlink margins for better reception. NBC Universal is also deploying a Tandberg system that includes MPEG-2 HD multiplexes and the Tandberg Director network management and receiver control system.
          The deal will enable NBC Universal to expand its program offerings to cable, satellite and IPTV service providers throughout the United States.
