C-Com Sets Up Service Center In China
C-Com Satellite Systems Inc. opened a service and support center in Beijing, the company announced.
The center will be operated by Hua Sheng & Li Tian Technology Co. Ltd., one of C-Com’s Chinese value-added resellers, and provide training and repair for all C-Com products sold in China.
DigitalGlobe To Provide Imagery For Mobile Phone Service
DigitalGlobe will work with LocatioNet Systems Ltd., a provider of mobile mapping and location applications, to add a satellite imagery capability to the Amaze mobile navigation and mapping service, the companies announced.
The service will provide voice-guided GPS navigation using high-resolution satellite imagery and aerial photos displayed on mobile phones.
GlobeCast Launches WorldTV DTH In Europe
GlobeCast’s direct-to-home (DTH) satellite brand, WorldTV, has expanded into Europe with the launch of a new bouquet of seven South Asian channels on the Intelsat 905 satellite at 35.5° East, GlobeCast announced.
A full-service satellite TV bouquet from Globecast’s London Broadcast Center will feature Indian and Pakistani channels.
Already a distributor of international TV and radio in the United States, WorldTV is looking to expand its audience throughout continental Europe.
ND Satcom, Interactive Technologies Implement Telemedicine Network
ND Satcom and Interactive Technologies have launched Bulgaria’s first satellite-based telemedicine network, ND Satcom announced. The network is based on ND Satcom’s SkyWAN platform, while Interactive Technologies provides a meshed VSAT network. The system will provide applications such as live video transmissions of operations, videoconferencing, teleconferencing and file transfer between military hospitals and medical centers for the Bulgarian Armed Forces.
Russia To Provide Glonass Access For Free
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree making access to civilian navigation signals from the Glonass navigation satellite system free and without restriction, the Kremlin press service announced.
The Russian government cabinet has ordered a decree to determine the terms and conditions for civilian users within the next three months.
Russia plans to have 18 Glonass satellites in orbit by the end of 2007 and a full constellation of 24 spacecraft by 2009.
Telenor Satellite Broadcasting Extends Network Into Eastern Europe
Telenor Satellite Broadcasting expanded its network into three Eastern European countries, the company announced.
Connections to Telenor’s fiber and satellite solutions have been established in Sofia, Bulgaria; Bucharest, Romania; and Budapest, Hungary.
The network offers uplink services to Telenor’s Thor-3 satellite, enabling operators to backhaul occasional and permanent video feeds to other parts of Europe as well as the United States.
