[Via Satellite 10-05-2016] Global satellite operator Telesat has entered an agreement with Middletown, Virginia-based Experis Data Centers, a collocation and disaster recovery center, for teleport backup services. To enhance the capabilities of Telesat’s existing carrier-class teleport in Mount Jackson, Virginia, the operator has installed a 31-foot (9.4-meter) diameter satellite uplink at the Experis site.

Experis’ facility meets several government and enterprise security requirements, including significant public and private fiber capacity as well as having infrastructure for proper collocation and backup. Though not normally involved in the satellite industry, the company is expanding into this sector via its recent deal with Telesat.

“Historically we’ve primarily provided infrastructure and connectivity for companies and organizations in need of data collocation and disaster recovery,” said Larry Pelletier, CEO and managing partner of Experis Data Centers. “However, as we continue adapting to the current digital landscape. Experis is excited to provide new services and create new partnerships with industry leaders like Telesat.”
